Ridgeway Confections

Picture

Local residents Derek Ouellet and Cindy Healy, both certified Chocolatiers, have spent their spare time this winter installing a new commercial kitchen in their home on
Main Street. Their local experiment with selling chocolates through The Nest Egg has given them the confidence to expand their investment. They will be concentrating on wholesale sales but you will still be able to buy their treats at The Nest Egg, build your own box of chocolates on line via their website,
www.ridgewayconfections.com or call in an order that Derek will deliver
right to your door. Cindy says they are “absolutely thrilled to be a part of this wonderful community - not only living here but now working here.

Chocolatiers...We love everything chocolate and sweet. We have been creating special sweets for our families for generations and have recently been encouraged to share our love for creating with others. You can purchase our traditional Ridgway Fudge, amazing Sponge Candy and Brittles, as well as our signature chocolates here and have them delivered to your house or office.   We use only natural ingredients like real cream and butter.  This means the shelf life of our confections is shorter (approximately 3 weeks on average) than confectioners who use preservatives. We think once you bite into a Ridgway confection however shelf life will be a non-issue.

The Green Gecko Store in Lyndhurst
When you enter The Green Gecko, you'll find me, Terri Dawson, with a smile and friendly "hello".  From the start, my husband, Peter, and I were captivated by the beauty of Lyndhurst and area.  We felt that a bold shop with unique items would draw people to experience that beauty first hand.  Each year we spend time in South East Asia scouring the streets and markets in what we call "treasure hunting".  We are searching for unique and one-of-a-kind items to bring back to you.  Our vision includes supporting the small production artisans we meet on our travels and seeking out local artisans and products, to create The Green Gecko, a shop like no other!
A place with just the right mix and something for everyone.

AN  EVOLUTION  DRIVEN
BY  DEMAND

Picture
As a young man Ken Watson learned to repair cars and trucks as well as farm machinery while working with his father John and brother Peter in the scrap business. This experience allowed the boys to learn about vehicles while dismantling them for scrap and auto parts. This skill became known in the Gananoque area and neighbours required them to repair their equipment and fix their trucks and cars. In 1980 Ken moved to a farm in Seeley's Bay where he worked the land and milked his herd. After a number of years Ken opened, 'Ken Watson's Auto Wrecking & Repair'. This became Ken's main activity and farming took a back seat. After a few years the demand for services required the business to add four more bays and to expand the scrap yard, the business he learned as a young man.

Ken eventually expanded his service supplying a reliable towing service which dovetailed nicely with metal recycling.

In 2001 the business became incorporated as Seeley's Bay Iron & Metal Ltd. and the addition of Ken's son Kent. Mechanical work on cars and trucks, towing, metal scrap collection for recycling and medium-run flat bed hauling became the areas of focus.

"We are far more than people expect, even folks from the area who have had us service their car for years don't realize we haul goods to other areas of Ontario." says Kent.
